OUR MISSION
TO SERVE ALL STUDENT ATHLETES AND ENSURE NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND.
OUR STORY
At The Ninety Nine Athletic Company, everything starts with a simple belief: no student-athlete should be left behind. We've seen it too many times—talented, hardworking student-athletes walking away from sports early on, not because they lack ability or passion, but because they lack access. The cost of equipment can quietly become the reason a kid never steps onto the field, never joins the team, and never gets the chance to compete.
That didn't sit right with us.
So we set out to build something different. The Ninety Nine was created to remove that barrier, to make sure athletes have the gear they need to play with confidence, without placing additional stress on families already doing everything they can to make ends meet. Through our equipment leasing program, we're able to put quality gear into the hands of athletes at no cost, while creating a system built on trust, responsibility, and dignity.
But this is about more than equipment. It's about the athlete who almost didn't try out. The parent who thought it wasn't possible. The moment confidence is restored because someone simply had the chance.
The name "The Ninety Nine" is inspired by a story about leaving the ninety-nine to find the ONE, because the mission isn't complete until every student-athlete is accounted for and given the chance. That belief shapes everything we do here at The Ninety Nine—not through words alone, but through action, service, and the way we show up for each other.
As we grow, so does our vision. Through our apparel, our partnerships, and our community, we aim to build something bigger than a brand—a movement that stands for opportunity, resilience, and making sure no athlete is ever overlooked.
Because the game should never be out of reach. And no ONE should be left behind.
William Magnus
As a former student-athlete and a current coach, he has seen firsthand how easily opportunity can slip away. Through his experience in sports, William noticed a pattern: student-athletes walking into high school, or walking away from it, with the same regret—they never played a sport they were interested in. Not because they didn't care or didn't make the cut, but because their families either couldn't justify the cost of equipment for something that wasn't guaranteed, or simply couldn't afford it in general.
As a coach, he saw it from both sides: parents doing their best, unsure about investing money into a sport their child might not stick with, and athletes missing out on opportunities before they ever had the chance to try. He also saw what happens when they do get that chance—confidence grows, purpose is found, and in some cases, athletes discover something they're truly meant to be a part of.
That tension is what led William to create The Ninety Nine Athletic Company: a way to remove that barrier and give athletes a real opportunity to step onto the field.
The name "The Ninety Nine" comes from the parable of the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to go after the ONE that is lost. It's a story about value—that the ONE matters just as much as the ninety-nine. That no ONE is overlooked, forgotten, or left behind.
That belief is the foundation of this company. Because sometimes, all it takes is ONE opportunity for an athlete to find confidence, direction, and purpose. And no ONE should miss that chance.
Carson Tilley
Carson has been a foundational supporter of The Ninety Nine Athletic Company since its earliest stages. ONE of the first people William turned to when the vision for the company began to take shape, Carson played a critical role in helping bring that vision to life. Through his efforts, The Ninety Nine was able to secure its first wave of donated equipment, laying the groundwork for what has become a strong foundation in the lacrosse community.
As a former student-athlete himself, Carson understood the gap that exists for many student-athletes and felt a personal connection to the mission. His belief in the vision, and his willingness to step in early, has helped turn an idea into action.
Built on a shared belief that no athlete should be left behind, Carson continues to support the mission and the athletes it serves.
